The California Coast
City of Los Angeles, CA
I just got back from L.A.
I needed a weekend to get my mind right from being in quarantine and the isolation. This quarantine has been a rough one without a doubt. I thrive in traveling and being able to escape from my apartment for the weekend.
Yet, we are all in this together and that is the bigger picture.
Thankfully, as the states began opening back up, I booked a flight toward Los Angeles in June. I heard Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Hollywood and Beverly Hills calling my name. Plus flights are really cheap now.
Hollywood, CA
This past Friday I drove into Hollywood and walked over the famous “Walk of Fame”. It felt amazing being outside of my apartment in all these months. As a tourist, I got to see the “Hollywood Sign” from Hollywood & Highland Mall. I wore my mask and walked around for a bit socially distancing myself from others as I took it all in.
Soon after, I jumped back into my car, and drove down Sunset Blvd. toward the “Beverly Hills Sign”. The drive there felt like a vacation.
There are so many palm trees that line down Sunset Blvd. for miles. I wish South Lamar Blvd. in Austin looked like this!
Beverly Hills, CA
Near Rodeo Dr. you’ll be able to park and take pictures of the Beverly Hills sign. However, my favorite part, is driving down nearby streets viewing the million-dollar mansions. There are tall palm trees as 20 stories high guiding you down in every direction. From there, I drove toward Venice Beach and saw Rapper G-Eazy while at a red-light along the way.
Venice Beach, CA
I’ve concluded that Venice is my favorite beach in L.A. The boardwalk has a skate-park, and a view of sand that extends for hundreds of yards into the ocean for a background. You can smell marijuana from street vendors as you walk around the area and that shopping at Venice is a must. West of Venice Beach you can bike toward Santa Monica Beach.
Santa Monica, CA
The Santa Monica Pier is where you’ll find rollercoasters. I laid out at the beach for hours not too far away from it. I got a good sunburn from the overcast. I ended my night meeting up some friends and flying home Sunday morning.
