Miami Beach- Attractions & Things to Do

I’m always on the internet scrolling for plane flights to random places. It’s this thing that I do and could be an obsession. I’m not the only person that does this right?
Well, Miami Beach has been on my mind for the past 10 years. I’ve only been there once, so I had to make it twice. I spent my Friday in Miami Beach for the day. I needed a break from watching so much T.V.

Wet Willie’s (South Beach) Miami Beach

Ocean Drive is a major attraction spot for tourists. This long road has hundreds of Florida’s palm trees planted along the beach for miles as a scenic backdrop. Moreover, it’s where other bars, restaurants and clubs can be located for partygoers such as yourself near the beach.

However, the sweet spot to all of this is at 10th Street and Ocean Drive. This is where you’ll find the “Art Deco District” which is our nation’s largest concentration of historic buildings. Its vibrancy of pastel colors makes it unique and you’ll never forget it at nighttime. Trust me.

Wet Willie’s is a bar that sells frozen daiquiri’s and is a short walk away from 10th Street. I ordered the “Banana Colada” because Pina Coladas are a favorite of mine. It’s safe to say that I got buzzed off a large sized drink by 11AM. I sat upstairs on the balcony starring at all the palm trees in front of me.

Puerto Sagua Restaurant Miami Beach

I wanted to eat Cuban food for breakfast, so Yelp helped me with recommending this place as it had over three-thousand reviews. It was around the corner from Wet Willie’s. Order yourself a Cuban sandwich with an espresso coffee drink.

I only drank half of the Cuban coffee and my buzz went away. I didn’t think it would be that strong especially since it was served in a little cup. Lesson learned.

South Beach

Ocean Drive is also full of street vendors selling Cuban Cigars such as Cohibas. It’s the only cigar that I’ll smoke, and they are damn near impossible to find in the U.S. Your best chance to ever experience smoking one is by heading to Miami or Cuba.

Each drag is smooth, rich in flavor and has an unforgettable aroma smell which left me feeling good. Do not miss this and try one even if you don’t smoke.

Soon after, I finally went to the beach. There’s no way to explain how cool, warm, and refreshing the water feels. It’s almost magical in a sense. I didn’t want to leave the water. The sand in Florida is also bone white and sticks to your skin making it hard to rinse off after.

Miami just feels different when you land in town. It is a destination where “You can be whoever you want to be there.” There’s a lot of Bentley’s, Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s, and other exotic cars with black tinted windows cruising around Ocean Drive.

I’d compare Miami Beach to Beverly Hills, Venice Beach, and Santa Monica all crammed into one. However, South Beach stands on its own once you see it.

Enjoy!
