Things to Do in Miami, FL

Miami must have something in the water. I swear you can be whoever you want to be down here. The city makes you act differently from a confidence point of view.

My friend went to school over at the University of Miami and took me to a spot called Mr. Moe’s. It’s in an area called Coconut Grove just by the school. Order yourself the moose juice. It comes in a big ass cup and was only $15 at the time. Let’s just say Miami 1, Eddie 0 on night one.

The second day was all beach day. We drove from Coral Gables, FL into Miami Beach’s South Beach listening to “Take over Control” by Afrojack ft. Evan Simons. Electric dance music also known as “EDM” is huge in Miami, so you know we were vibing. Once we drove into Ocean Drive that’s where the party started. Right away you could see Ferrari’s, Maybach’s and other exotic cars parked along the street. I had to use google search because they looked so damn expensive. I walked onto that white sand, and it then started to feel like vacation. I then walked into the ocean and instantly felt a bonding moment. The water felt so fresh. It reminded me of holy water because the temperature was just right.

Miami Beach, FL

Later that night we made the move to Mansion Nightclub. Apparently, a yellow school bus is chartered through the university. It drops and picks up students from their dorms at Coral Gables to Miami Beach’s nightclubs for free! We had a blast in that yellow school bus pregaming on Svedka Vodka, remember that clear and white bottle?

The city of Miami is full of neon pastel colored lights that flash upon their skyscrapers and roads. A big amazement was that nightclubs out there didn’t open until midnight with a 5AM closing time. Mansion, from the streets has such a bright while aurora that it just pulls you in. Inside it’s pure of EDM vibes from the sounds of Dirty South, a DJ. I remember ordering two shots of Patron tequila at the bar and it was $60. Tip was already included into the bill. Damn that’s a lot.

Day three we headed back to South Beach. This time listening to The Black Eyed Peas song, “Light up The Night” while driving in the rental car I had rented. It coincidentally came with a sunroof so i took full advantage. We walked around nearby streets and found a Burger King better known as the Whopper Bar. It’s called that because this establishment sold Coors Light beer cans inside. Soon after, we went to the beach. It was just beautiful seeing those palm trees everywhere we walked. I had no problem being at the beach all day soaking in that Florida sun. The humidity was sticky like as it wrapped around my body and felt like being in a sauna.

Star Island, Miami Beach, FL

The morning after I headed out to Star Island. There is a ferry service that takes tourists onto a tour of the private waterfront that’s full of various celebrity mansion’s such as rapper P. Diddy and NBA basketball player Shaquille O’ Neal to name a few. That was awesome. Our tour group got a glimpse of the mansion that starred in the movie “Scarface,” which was based out of Miami. The tour lasted for about two hours and is well worth it.

Sooner after, it was time to get another day at the beach in. I found a bar called Mangos nearby that is worth checking out. They play live Latin music and entertainment. Outside a lady was selling Cuban cigars called Cohibas. I don’t smoke cigars, but it was juicy and smooth with each drag that had been taken from it. I had a great buzz and called it a night.

The following day my friend and I heading back out to South Beach in the rental. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy a nice view of women in G-string bikinis walking on the sand. This time we were listening to rapper T-Pain’s song “I’m Dancing” on the drive there.

That night we made the move to Nikki Beach in South Beach. We took the yellow school bus as it was chartering us there and back. That’s another spot worth checking out! I remember seeing rapper Jermaine Dupri there right beside me vibing to the music at his bottle service area.

I went to the bathroom and a guy in front me of was washing his hands. He turned around and started to walk out before I was able to stop him. His nose was white, so I told him to clean himself up and he thanked me. Later that night our party crew separated, and I had to take a taxi back to the dorms. I was outside in the parking lot asking if anyone wanted to split a cab fare but had no success. That was because the after parties were about to start at 6AM but I wanted to go home at 5AM. Check out the after parties!

Miami Heat NBA

My last night in town took us to a Miami Heat game. We got to see Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh at American Airlines Arena. That was a real treat. I remember hearing the chants of “Dos Minutos” in Spanish, each time two minutes remained in every quarter. Most of the people in attendance spoke Spanish from what I heard.
