Visit New Orleans, LA
New Orleans is a very small city that hides in the swamps and has a little bit of something for everybody out on Bourbon St. It’s similar to the Vegas Strip or 6th Street, out by nearby Austin, TX.
You get the chance to see the NFL Saint’s Superdome driving into town which is cool. The best scenic view is the cathedral at Jackson Square. It’s not too far from Bourbon St but people can get married there. It reminds me of that level in the Nintendo 64’s ‘Super Smash Brothers” and you play as the character Link.
The seafood in New Orleans is the best in the world in my opinion. Get ready to spend a well-deserved $35 per plate. The food is better than the gambling in Vegas. While dining, phrases such as Sir or Ma’am, come out of the mouth from your waiter/waitress as they our you more water. Ask the locals where the best spots are for oysters or dinner because their more than willing to help. The French influence is still present with mannerism and etiquette. Remember, France once occupied the state of Louisiana at one point.
Bourbon St. In New Orleans
Just like in Las Vegas, drinking is permitted in the streets of New Orleans. Tourists from all over the world come to relax, gamble, eat and drink. The motto is, “Work hard, play hard,” right?
Bourbon St. is a half mile long street, full of bars, music, strip clubs and seafood. It’s almost like Sodom and Gomorrah from the Holy Bible. It has a little bit of something for everyone, including gambling over at the Harrah’s. Just keep in mind, there’s no smoking tobacco allowing inside.
Bourbon St. is the action. It’s the reason why you drive eight hours from Austin. The swamps are alive and living for miles along the interstate. I’m just glad no alligators crossed my path.
In New Orleans, there’s always a party. You’re in the boot state and trumpets are playing with bands behind them out in the streets. Remember that song, “Back that ass up” by Juvenile.
And don’t gamble at the Harrah’s, it’s just not worth it.
Cafe Du Monde New Orleans
Lastly, Cafe Du Monde is the best. They are tiny beignets (pastries) stacked onto a plate and highly doused in power sugar. I had the sugar all over my pants and wasn’t even buzzed that night. I mean for $2.50 it’s beyond worth it. Just arrive past midnight and not during the day. In the daytime, lines are an hour long. Past midnight, there are no lines but it is dark out.
