Best Bars in Austin
The first time I walked onto 6th street in Austin it felt like being on the Vegas Strip. Bright lights, tons of people and where the action is, out on the strip. Later, it would just remind me of Bourbon Street in New Orleans, LA, just without the drinking in public and a lot younger age demographic.
I want you to image a quarter-of-a mile long street. That is filled with over 50 bars on both sides of that street, playing music louder than the next place. Now, image that same street being closed from end to end filled with drunk people walking from one spot to the next. As you walk down 6th street, the sounds of $2, $4, $6 sales pitches are yelled out loud. One bar by the next, playing country music, rap music, EDM and Hip-Hop all at the same time until 2AM.
The street is predominately college kids, mixed with locals and some tourists. Bring a $20 bill and your money could get you as far as five bars without any cover charges!
It’s called “Dirty 6” for a reason so bring some Advil. You’ll probably lose your iPhone too.
