Swim at Sculpture Falls in Austin, TX

Each weekend I get to explore the City of Austin a little bit more during my free time. Today, I went for a morning hike toward Sculpture Falls here in town. It’s located near the Barton Creek Mall, about 15 minutes West of downtown Austin. This hiking trail is a bit challenging, but reminded me of the “Blair Witch Project” for a quick second.

Use “Google Maps” and type-in Camp Craft Rd. and Scottish Woods Trail. Those cross streets will eventually lead you toward the same entrance that I used to enter my hike.

You’ll want to park your car here because this neighborhood is full of million-dollar homes. I don’t think you’ll have to worry about your car getting broken into from the looks of it.

The hike to Sculpture Falls is about 40-minutes and rough. First, you must walk on loose pieces of rocks the size of a fruit pear for 20-minutes. Then, the trail leads downward at a 45-degree angle until you reach pay-dirt. From there, you’ll walk another 20-minutes as the wilderness begins to look creepy. Right about here, “Blair Witch Project” should come to your mind shortly because the hike starts to get darker. You’ll keep following the path down until a waterfall can be seen on your right-side. There should be people swimming or fishing nearby you can’t miss it.

Welcome to Sculpture Falls. It’s a beauty. You’ll find huge boulders centered in the middle of its creek. That’s where you’ll take your Instagram photos.

Remember, that the walk back toward your car is uphill. Enjoy!
