College Football in Texas
The Texas Longhorns NCAA Football
College football in Austin is an amazing time of the year. On Saturday’s, all throughout the city and in grocery stores you’ll see people wearing the colors of burnt orange and white as early as 7AM on game days.
The tailgates take place just outside the stadium near San Jacinto and 17th street. Sponsors such as Corona and Bud Light set up booths handing out free beer if you’re 21+. There’s also a DJ playing music. I’d compare these tailgates to an Oakland Raiders one- minus the marijuana. They’re that good.
There are public tailgates available with unlimited food and booze for $25, you can join which is cool. So, you can jump into any tailgate to partake in the festivities all throughout downtown.
Take the bus around town for transportation because it’s only $1.25 for a one-way ride or $2.50 for a day pass.
ESPN’s College GameDay football series came into Austin one weekend so I got the chance to see Matthew McConaughey. That was awesome.
